LIVESTOCK FARM COMPLEX

The Livestock Farm Complex (LFC) at Ramkumari College of Veterinary Sciences serves as a vital resource for teaching, research, and practical training in animal husbandry. The LFC provides students with hands-on experience in the management, breeding, feeding, and healthcare of different livestock species, thereby bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and field application.

The farm houses cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry, maintained under scientific management practices. Students are trained in diverse aspects such as:

  • Dairy farm management and clean milk production

  • Scientific breeding and reproductive management

  • Balanced feeding and fodder conservation techniques

  • Housing and health management of livestock and poultry

The LFC not only supports academic programs but also acts as a demonstration unit for progressive farmers, showcasing improved methods of livestock production. Regular exposure visits, hands-on training sessions, and farmer-interaction programs are organized to strengthen practical learning and promote modern livestock management practices.

In addition, the farm complex plays an important role in research and extension activities, conducting feeding trials, management studies, and breed improvement programs. This makes the LFC an indispensable component of veterinary education, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills required for the livestock sector.
